Trade Fairs are avenues for manufacturers, businessmen, traders and buyers to meet for the purpose of showcasing new and old products, striking business bargains, selling and buying of goods and services. The 32nd Kaduna International Trade Fair was held from February 25th – March 6th, 2011 while the 22nd Edition of the Enugu International Trade Fair took place from March 11th – 21st, 2011. The theme of the Kaduna trade fair was “National Energy Roadmap for Nigeria’s Growth and Development” while the Enugu fair had “Diversification of the Nation’s Economy for Sustainable Development” as its focus.
At such fairs, during the course of the programme, NNPC is always allocated a whole day in an organized forum to intimate participants of the activities and operations of the NNPC Group, after which the NNPC stand at the fair will be visited by NNPC Top Management present, Officials of the State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Top Government Functionaries that would have been present at the ceremony, businessmen, industry players, manufacturers as well as prospective domestic and foreign investors The Group Managing Director (GMD), NNPC, was represented by Mrs. Philips Iyabo, the General Manager, College of Petroleum Technology Studies, Kaduna at the NNPC Day in Kaduna while Mr. D.O. Ekpemauzor (Executive Director, Services), Port Harcourt Refinery played same role in Enugu.
During the GMD’s address, he explained the concerted efforts being made by NNPC to increase fuel gas for power generation of over 40,000MW of electricity which will be supplied to the national grid over the next 10 years for steady, effective and efficient power distribution for national development. He went further to reveal that the federal government through the NNPC will establish three Green Refineries with a combined production capacity of 700,000 barrels per day in Bayelsa, Lagos and Kogi States. He mentioned also that NNPC has constructed Forty (40) mega filling stations nationwide and Twelve (12) floating stations; Seven (07) of which have been deployed to serve the riverine areas of the country as part of efforts to bring the products closer to the people in that area. In addition, 304 service stations have been branded which has provided business and created more employment opportunities.
